ABSTRACT

Introduction: The current pandemic of COVID-19 has resulted in the interruption of undergraduate and postgraduate medical science education worldwide. In our country, the training of health professionals has stopped since March this year and the educational routine of teaching schools has been limited. This implies that the beginning of the new academic year in the setting of medical sciences will bring about the implementation of modifications. Objective: To propose adjustments in teaching methods and teaching settings for this period of pandemic. Results: Generally speaking, the complementation of face-to-face classes with other modalities, such as virtual or online, is proposed, together with the use of new teaching scenarios such as virtual platforms and telemedicine, as well as a wider use of social networks. Conclusions: Medical education in times of COVID-19 constitutes a challenge, a reason why it has had the need to reorganize undergraduate and postgraduate education to guarantee the training of our professionals, who will guarantee future medical services of quality and excellence. © 2020, Editorial Ciencias Medicas.
